Ottawa Downtown & Chateau Laurier Engagement Photoshoot- Bee & Ahmed

Engagement Photoshoot At Chateau Laurier & Major’s Hill Park in Downtown Ottawa

Some engagement photo shoot locations are just pure classics and no matter how many times I shoot there, they never loose their charm. In Ottawa, one of these locations is the Downtown and especially the Chateau Laurier and Major’s Hill park area with its magnificent view on the Canadian Parliament.

This location is unique because of its landmarks but also, it combines great waterfront views, beautiful textured walls of the chateau Laurier and the park’s greenery. And that is why Bee and Ahmet chose this location for their engagement photoshoot.

Bee and Ahmed first contacted me to inquire about the photography service for their wedding but the number one thing that was important to them, is to find a photographer they feel comfortable with. Their engagement photoshoot was the perfect setup to test the water. This is very important because the dynamics between the couple and the photographer have a great impact how comfortable the couple is in front of the camera, how the photos turn out, and of course managing the stress on the wedding day and making sure everything runs smoothly.

During their engagement photoshoot in downtown Ottawa, we ended up taking photos for hours and getting to know each other well. At the end of the photo shoot, Bee said” We don’t even need to see the photos, we know we want to hire you for our wedding”. Those words made me extremely happy as I certainly pride myself on trying to make my couples comfortable to get the best natural and candid photos possible.

I also loved how Ahmed surprised Bee at the start of the shoot with a bouquet of roses that brought a huge smile to her face but also made a great pop of colour and accessory to the engagement photos.

After our time downtown near the Fairmount Chateau Laurier and at Major’s hill park, we wanted to catch bits of the sunset, so we headed to Dow’s lake for some beautiful pink sunset hues. You can see the photos from Dow’s lake here (coming soon). And you can see the photos from Bee and Ahmet’s Wedding at the Canadian Museum of History here. (coming soon)
